 Product Information

Where do you source your coffee beans? Our coffee comes directly from our farmland in Colombia; El Jaragual, spanning 150 hectares is overseen by Jorge Mira. Located at an elevation of 1500 MASL in Amalfi, Antioquia, Colombia, our farm is perfectly positioned in the northern area of the central Colombian Andes. This location is superb for cultivating our premium coffee. A significant portion of El Jaragual is dedicated to forestry, leveraging Jorge's background as a forestry engineer. Our farm features a blend of pine tree plantations aimed at sustainable timber production, alongside conserved areas of native forest. Coffee grown in the midst of carefully looked after forest has the best chance of developing great flavours, as the soil is rich in nutrients and shade can be cultivated to create optimal conditions for coffee cherries to ripen. We also work closely with local producers who have the same standards as us and live for producing some of the best quality coffee in the world.

Are your beans organic or Fair Trade certified? Our farmland and all of the producers we work with are family-run by people who have been growing coffee for decades, without using any harmful chemicals or pesticides. Both the organic and fairtraded certifications are costly which leaves small businesses unable to participate. Collaboratively we decide fairtrade prices between our network so everyone benefits from the incredible coffee we produce.

Sustainability & Ethics

Are your packaging materials recyclable or compostable? Here at SipSisters all our packaging is recyclable. One of our core beliefs as a small business is to be as environmentally conscious as possible, growing and adapting to change as we grow as a business.

What steps do you take toward sustainability? All our coffee is sourced directly from our farms and producers / friends we know and trust.  They run small-scale, sustainable farms and look after their workers, and we ensure to pay competitively for any green coffee we procure which isn’t from our own farmland. Part of our social responsibility is to share knowledge with neighbouring farms to uplift the region. We are also choosing sustainable materials as much as possible and trying to prevent plastic pollution. Our farm features a blend of pine tree plantations aimed at sustainable timber production, alongside conserved areas of native forest, this helps to preserve biodiversity, reduce erosion, and maintain soil fertility. The trees also provide shade, carbon sequestration, and habitat for wildlife.
